More curiosities!

Hello!! How you doing? Well I'm doing good myself, hope you guys are doing great too. In the past couple of weeks I've been taking some pictures of items I've bought and some I had on stock. So let's quit babbling and start with the pictures.

I received this beautiful fabric on the mail a week ago. And I just had to make something handy out of it.

I made this fantastic zipper pouch.

I also went to Walmart although I sometimes hate it, but I find really cool stuff; like these studs.

I also went to my favorite megastore, of course Marshalls and found this car air freshener. I love the vintage vibe and the phrase "Make your damn dinner", but something went terribly wrong with the smell. It says tomato soup I don't know why I fell for it but it smells horrible.

A nice old lady at work tought me how to make this very cute flower.

And another nice lady (my grandma), gave me this fruity fabric.

If you don't already know I'm a sucker for skeletons & skulls and everything weird like that, here's another item found at Walmart. I don't like to use foam but it was made of human remains so I had to get it.

And for the last one some of my findings (buttons, measuring tape, buttons, patches,….did I say buttons?)

Headbands!

Today was a productive day. I went to work and then came home straight to my sewing machine. It's been weeks since I sew something completely new and with all my new magazines I couldn't wait to start a new project. Remember the headband I posted from the Quilts & More Magazine? Finally did it! And it turned out really pretty. It was very easy to make, at first I had some trouble with the instructions but thanks to my wonderful brain I figured it out and finished them right away. They look fantastic and it's a great accessory to go to the beach. I'll be wearing mine for the next few days since I'll be going to Culebra.

What do you think? Are you ready to try a new project that you saw on a magazine?

Curiosities...

Hello curiosers! Today I finally received my brand new camera lens. Hooray! Of course, I couldn’t wait to try it out. Side note: I’m not professional photographer at all; I just do it for the fun of it and to present my handmade goodies. Here are some of things I love and currently own.

A cute robot that my mom gave me. (It's a Christmas decoration but I don’t mind)

2. I bought Betsey Johnson’s tights and this was the very cute box they came in.

3.A carrot cupcake my grandmother did. (she’s obsessed with making sweets)

My sexy Lab. Her name is Mona.

My piggy bank.

One of the many pair of boots I own.

My favorite camera, the lomography fisheye but it’s dead and I miss it.

And the last one my latest addiction: an owl necklace.

Any photography tips you would like to share?

Instant Photography

One thing that I really love is instant photography. A little story: when I was little my grandfather had a Polaroid camera which he used to take pics of the whole family. I have some of myself when I was a very cute baby.

A few years ago I bought a Polaroid camera on eBay and bought film on Walgreens when they used to sell it. I took a bunch of pictures every time I would hangout with my friends. All of them are kept on a box with the camera. I stopped using it because the film got pretty expensive and couldn’t find it anywhere but eBay, which made me very very sad.

Later I discovered that Fujifilm was selling an instant camera similar as the Polaroid but the pictures were credit card size. I couldn’t resist and bought it right away with a lot of film. I took pictures of everything and even brough it to a trip to New York City.

The other day I found this cute little bag for my mini instax that I’m planning to buy soon with lots & lots of instant film.

Holga lens
I also found this Holga lens adapter that of course will be mine too. I love this kind of cameras because I have the picture right away and let’s face it you never know how you’re going to look.

What about you? Do you love instant film as much as I do? Any good pictures you have taken?

Sewing Store

Today I went with my mom to a new store she read on the newspaper. It is called "Costura y Bordado" although it had another name on the sign (which I can't remember). The shop is pretty cool, it sells fabrics, sewing machines & other supplies.

When I walked in the first thing I saw was the fabrics. They didn't have a lot but it is a small shop so I can't complain. The limited selection was pretty fantastic. I wanted to take all of them but I'm economicaly challenged since I finally bought my camera lens, now there's no excuse for crappy pictures. Back to the fabrics; they had flower print, owls, birds, lines, polka dots, everything I like.

On the sale rack I found this curious fabric, mom said it was weird and it looks a lot like nurse's hats. But I find it quite adorable and I can't wait to do something with it.

They offer classes at the store too and I'm planing to take one. One thing I really didn't like was the customer service, when we asked about the classes the employee couldn't take the time to explain to us how the calendar works.

You can check their Website here.

What about you? Any new curious shops you found?

Mission Fail

Yesterday I went to my nearest multinational department store to buy supplies to do some stencils. As I remember from my rebellious youth all I needed was an x-acto knife, spray paint, & a decent piece of cardboard.

But this time I went a little bit artistic and bought myself acrylic paint instead of the paint cans & a sponge because the paintbrushes were quite expensive (I'm on a tight budget). I wanted to wait till next day (today) to start with my new project but I was too anxious to begin. So I made some stencils and I'm not real happy with the results, but I will keep trying.

First attempt: it was supposed to be a lipstick but I don't know, not quite sure what turned out.

Second try: an anchor, well that one was easy but needs a lot more work.

And the last one: a sewing machine. Eh, need to work on the sides…

Since tomorrow is finally my day off I'll be giving it another shot. What about you? Any project that you were eager to do and then it turned into a total mess?

Stay tune for part deux.
